Ace Hernandez Of Soledad California Joins As New Drummer.

On September 3rd, 2008, Brian Graham has announced to the band (Kick Start Devils) that he will no longer be able to fulfill his role as their drummer. He has decided to relocate to southern California to be closer to a new job opportunity as a stagehand. Brian has been working with Ray Treason, who is the Singer/Guitarist/Song writer of Kick Start Devils, for the past 8 years (2000-2008). During that time, Kick Start Devils have played various high profile concerts with artists such as L.A. Guns, Total Chaos, 25 Ta Life, Swingin'utters, Hollywood Roses, Genitorturers, The Forgotten and The Casualties to name a few.
Brian began working with Ray in 2000 after Ray's former band, The Vigilantes, had a year long break up. The Vigilantes had planned to play one last time and needed a drummer, so Brian was asked to fill in. After months of rehearsal, the band was booked to headline a single concert date for the "Looks Like Trouble" tour on July 5th 2000 with the Casualties at the Soledad Bowl in Soledad Ca. The offer was originally for Brian to play only one show date with The Vigilantes, but he quickly became a permanent member.
In April 2001, they played the supporting time slot for L.A. Guns' CD release party for "Man in the moon". The line-up for L.A. Guns consisted mostly of original members including Tracii Guns, who was also the co-founder of the legendary rock band Guns N' Roses. The CD release party was held at the Blue Fin Café in historical Cannery Row in Monterey, Ca. One month later, the conflict between Ray and singer Jason Martinez that had ended The Vigilantes the first time around, re-emerged in the studio during a recording session which resulted in Jason's disbandment from the group.
Ray Mena (a.k.a Ray Treason), who was the song writer and guitarist for The Vigilantes, became the new singer and changed the band's name from Vigilantes to Kick Start Devils. Two weeks later the band had a scheduled live on-air music performance for the Monterey, Ca. radio station KMBY 104.3FM with "Phyllis and Opie in the morning".
After years of playing various venues around California and at local fund raising events, Kick Start Devils was booked to headline at the Whisky A Go Go; this was their first time playing Hollywood, California. Later that year on September 8th, Kick Start Devils was booked for the third time there to play a sold-out Genitorurers concert. During the past 3 years (2006-2008) Kick Start Devils have played five times at the Whisky a Go Go, three of which were headlining time slots.
On August 29th, 2008, Kick Start Devils rented the Branding Room at the Soledad Bowl in Soledad, Ca. and invited some of their friend's bands to play the event. Unknown to the band and public, this would be the last time Brian would play for the Kick Start Devils. Coincidentally, the first and last show Ray Treason and Brian Graham played together was at the Soledad bowling alley's Branding Room. Although Brian has left the band, Kick Start Devils will always consider him a great friend and band mate.
Two weeks after the announcement on September 3rd, 2008 that Brian Graham will no longer be performing with Kick Start Devils, Ace Hernandez was asked to join the band as their new drummer. Ace previously played in a band called The Unsung Heroes from Soledad, Ca.
"During the two drummerless weeks, we had considered four other drummers besides Ace. We decided having Ace would really be the best option for us. While the other drummers we had in mind are very good drummers, we mostly wanted the experience that Ace has in being in a gigging band. Kick Start Devils is a gigging band and we needed a drummer who has experience in playing live shows." -Ray Treason
